Body Sovereignty is bringing consciousness, and self -determination to how we experience our body.

The core idea of Health at Every Size® is to promote weight neutrality. Weight neutrality means we set an intention to release our habit of judging our health and wellbeing based on our weight.

“Reclaiming Body Sovereignty encourages taking steps for health and well-being that do not have a focus on changing the body. Instead, we work on fostering love and acceptance for ourselves and our bodies, just the way they are.

How we see ourselves and talk to ourselves affects us…just like we need kindness and affirmations from others, we need it first from ourselves.

We all, to some degree, engage with food on an emotional level. Emotional eating isn’t automatically a bad thing, and the goal as we reclaim our body sovereignty is not to banish emotional eating from our lives, instead we work to ensure food isn’t the only source of comfort we have when we are feeling stressed or emotionally vulnerable.

Self compassion provides us a space of safety to do deep personal work – the kind of work that is needed to feel comfortable in our skin, explore our wounds, understand our motivations…to reclaim our Body Sovereignty.
